Candle Making Class Waiver, Release of Liability, and Photo Permission

By registering for and/or participating in a candle making class, workshop, private event, or related activity hosted by The Lighthouse Candle Factory (“LHCF”), all participants acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Voluntary Participation

I understand that participation in candle making activities is voluntary and may involve the use of:

heated wax,
fragrance oils,
heated equipment,
glass containers,
sharp or breakable objects,
open flames,
and other materials associated with candle production.

I acknowledge that participation may involve certain inherent risks including, but not limited to:

burns,
cuts,
slips and falls,
allergic reactions,
respiratory irritation,
damage to personal property,
or other injuries.

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation.

2. Health and Safety Acknowledgment

I certify that I (and/or the participant(s) I am registering) am physically capable of participating in the activity.

I agree to:

follow all safety instructions provided by staff,
use equipment only as instructed,
behave responsibly and respectfully,
and immediately notify staff of any unsafe condition or injury.

I understand that The Lighthouse Candle Factory reserves the right to remove any participant whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate.

3. Allergy and Sensitivity Notice

I understand that candle making activities may involve:

fragrance oils,
essential oils,
dyes,
waxes,
and other scented or chemical materials.

I acknowledge that exposure to these materials may cause allergic or skin reactions in some individuals.

It is my responsibility to disclose any known allergies or sensitivities before participating.

4. Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless:

The Lighthouse Candle Factory,
its owners,
employees,
instructors,
volunteers,
agents,
affiliates,
and representatives

from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, demands, actions, causes of action, costs, or expenses arising out of or related to:

participation in any class or activity,
use of facilities or equipment,
injury,
illness,
property damage,
or loss of any kind.

This release applies whether caused by negligence or otherwise, except where prohibited by law.

5. Minors

If registering a participant under the age of 18, I certify that:

I am the participant’s parent or legal guardian,
OR
I have authority from the parent or legal guardian to complete this registration.

I agree to assume all responsibilities and liabilities on behalf of the minor participant.

6. Photo and Video Release

Unless otherwise indicated during registration, I grant The Lighthouse Candle Factory permission to photograph and/or record video during classes and events.

I understand that such images or recordings may be used for:

marketing,
advertising,
social media,
website content,
promotional materials,
and other business-related purposes.

I understand that no compensation will be provided for such use.

Participants may opt out of photo/video permission during registration.

7. No Guarantee of Results

I understand that candle making outcomes may vary and that The Lighthouse Candle Factory makes no guarantee regarding:

finished products,
scent performance,
burn quality,
or artistic results.

8. Personal Responsibility

I accept full responsibility for:

my own actions,
the actions of any participant(s) I register,
and any damage caused by negligent, reckless, or intentional conduct.

9. Emergency Medical Care

In the event of an emergency, I authorize The Lighthouse Candle Factory staff to seek appropriate medical assistance for myself or any participant(s) I register if deemed necessary.

I understand that I am solely responsible for any resulting medical expenses.

10. Agreement and Electronic Consent

By checking the waiver acknowledgment box and/or completing registration, I acknowledge that:

I have read and understood this Waiver and Release of Liability,
I voluntarily agree to its terms,
I understand that I am waiving certain legal rights,
and my electronic acknowledgment constitutes a legally binding agreement.

11. Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina.
